The Banjaardstrand in the municipality of Noord-Beveland is chosen to the cleanest beach of the Netherlands in 2012. Sluis, including the beaches of Cadzand-Bad fall and last year's winner, finished in second place. The ' cleanest Beach election ' is an initiative of Foundation Netherlands Clean. The beaches of Vlissingen finished in fifth place, the Veerse beaches in seventh place. The beaches in the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland were good for ninth place. The Netherlands Clean Foundation was founded by the ANWB and by industry, the NVRD. The Foundation is concerned with the prevention and control of the pollution of litter.
